Microblading Q & A

Is microblading a form of permanent makeup?

Microblading is a medical aesthetics practice that uses a thin, sterile blade to place pigment into the deeper layers of your skin. It is a form of permanent makeup, like ombre browns, permanent eyeliner, and lip blushing.

These treatments provide lasting enhancements that define your features and help streamline your morning routine. The effects are subtle yet noticeable, creating shading and definition.

Microblading focuses on defining your eyebrows. The thin blades used in this treatment mimic the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs.

What kind of effects can be achieved through microblading?

Many people come in for microblading to achieve a thicker, more dense eyebrow look. Some have gone through medical treatments or have conditions that cause them to lose their eyebrows completely, and microblading allows them to regain that definition and shading.

In the hands of a skilled practitioner, microblading creates lifelike and subtle results. The hair-like lines are excellent for filling in your brows or creating a new brow shape.

When you come in, the first step is a quick assessment of your brows and a discussion of what you hope to achieve through treatment. Your practitioner explains the various options, giving you all the details needed to make an informed decision about your treatment.

The microblading process takes far less time than you might imagine. The blades do not extend deep into your tissues, and a numbing cream reduces sensation in the treatment area. Patients report the sensation as a little more intense than tweezing their brows but far less uncomfortable than waxing.

How long can I expect my microblading results to last?

Microblading is a type of semi-permanent tattoo. The pharmaceutical-grade pigments used in these treatments will remain visible for around two years. At that point, you can decide if you’d like to return for another round of microblading.

If you decide you want to add more depth or color to your brows, you can always schedule an appointment for a “fill-in” visit. Your practitioner will add new microblading lines and/or shading to help you refine your results until you’re pleased.
