Can I Get Botox® and Fillers at the Same Time?

Can I Get Botox® and Fillers at the Same Time?
Are you wanting to transform your appearance, but you’d like to skip the risks and downtime associated with facelift surgery? Discover how combining popular cosmetic injectables like Botox® and fillers can provide amazing results without surgery.

If you’re looking for an aesthetic treatment to address wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin, but you’re not ready to commit to something as drastic as facelift surgery, Botox® and dermal fillers are two great alternative anti-aging solutions.

Botox and fillers are both incredibly popular cosmetic injectables, and it’s easy to understand why: Both can rejuvenate your skin, turning back the hands of time with near-instant results and zero downtime.

So, if you’re ready to transform your skin, you can choose just Botox, or just fillers, but you can also try combining them for next-level results.

At Butterfly MedSpa and Wellness in Spring and The Woodlands of Houston, Texas, Ben Cilento, MD, MHA, and our expert team offer a full scope of cosmetic treatments to freshen your appearance and boost your self-confidence, including Botox and fillers. Here’s how these injections work individually — and when you should consider combining them.

How do Botox and fillers work?

Although Botox and fillers can both address fine lines and wrinkles, these two injections don’t share many other similarities, since they use different ingredients and target different wrinkle types.

Botox is the brand name of a neuromodulator that blocks nerve signals to the muscles in your face. When a muscle is injected with Botox, it’s temporarily paralyzed and won’t respond to the facial expressions you make.

As a result, the skin on your face begins to soften and relax, providing a much younger and smoother appearance. Botox is FDA-approved to address crow’s feet (i.e., “laugh lines”) at the corners of the eyes, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and horizontal forehead creases.

Fillers are made of hyaluronic acid and act as “liquid implants” for your skin. They address wrinkles and aging skin by adding fullness and volume to areas that might be sagging, thinning, or shallow. Common areas of concern treated with fillers are laugh lines, thinning lips, and hollowed cheeks.

Should you do Botox, fillers, or both?

If you have a singular area of concern such as laugh lines, you can use fillers or Botox on their own to address the one wrinkle type. But if you’re looking for total skin rejuvenation, you may want to combine these two skin-rejuvenating injectables.

Since Botox and fillers use different ingredients to accomplish different goals, the two treatments work well together and complement each other.

Botox works to erase dynamic wrinkles that result from facial muscle movement, and fillers address facial deflation, or natural age-related subcutaneous fat loss that makes skin sag and wrinkling appear more prominent.

When you get Botox and fillers at Butterfly MedSpa and Wellness, our team can expertly inject both treatments in the same session, saving you valuable time. You’ll notice immediate results from the fillers, and your full Botox results will develop over the course of several days.
